Liposuction for Men
Liposuction is a common fat-extracting procedure that an increasing number of men are turning to when diet and exercise alone aren’t getting rid of unwanted areas of fat.
Whether you want to get rid of “love handles,” or fatty deposits in your midsection, liposuction may help you achieve the slim, well-defined body you’re seeking.
Liposuction has been successfully used to treat these common trouble areas for men:
- Abdomen and waist
- Hips and buttocks
- Upper arms
- Back
- Chest area
- Cheeks, chin, and neck
- Calves and ankles
What to Expect from Male Liposuction
Liposuction can usually be done on an outpatient basis in one to four hours under general anesthesia with minimal side effects, such as temporary swelling, bruising, and some pain. Men who undergo liposuction typically return to work in days and are able to resume light exercise in two weeks.
Your board-certified Kelsey-Seybold plastic surgeon will make several small incisions in the area to be treated. Because the incisions are small, the procedure leaves little to no trace after it’s completed. The doctor will insert into each incision a small hollow tube called a cannula to dislodge and break up fat deposits. A small surgical vacuum is then inserted to suction out the dislodged fat.
