Common Breast Implant Revision Procedures

• Removing or replacing existing implants with new ones (an implant exchange) to change implant size, type, or position and improve overall appearance of breasts.
• Removing scar tissue (capsulectomy) or creating incisions to adjust scar tissue (capsulotomy) that surrounds an implant to create a more natural appearance.
• Deflating saline implants before undergoing corrective breast surgery by puncturing a small hole in the implant and then suctioning saline out through it. This procedure gives breast tissue and skin time to tighten before proceeding to the next step of implant revision. Referred to as percutaneous implant deflation, the procedure is noninvasive and typically requires very little to no recovery period.
