Brazilian Butt Lift
A Brazilian butt lift refers to a buttock augmentation procedure that enlarges and lifts your buttocks. This is achieved by removing excess fat from other areas in your body and implanting it into the buttocks to shape and mold them for an improved contour.
Fat Transfer vs. Silicone Implants
A buttock augmentation can be performed using silicone implants or a technique called fat grafting. A Brazilian butt lift procedure uses fat grafting (or fat transfer), which essentially combines liposuction and buttock augmentation. By shaping and lifting using organic fatty tissue from your own body, the increasingly popular Brazilian butt lift results in a more natural appearance than silicone implants and potentially has less complications.
Following anesthesia, your board-certified Kelsey-Seybold plastic surgeon will perform liposuction to remove unwanted fat, typically from the abdomen, hips, back, and thighs. The excess fat is then processed and injected into the buttock.
Is It Right for You?
Buttock augmentation is typically performed for cosmetic enhancement and is a highly personal decision. Unfortunately, a Brazilian butt lift can’t be performed on certain patients. In some cases, there’s simply not enough fat on the body available for transfer. In this case, buttock augmentation with silicone implants is likely a better choice. It’s also important to understand and consider any potential risks along with the benefits of a procedure to decide what’s best for you.
Brazilian Butt Lift Benefits and Results
Buttock augmentation can provide various aesthetic benefits that, for many, enhance quality of life. A Brazilian butt lift can:
- Help the buttocks appear fuller and rounder
- Improve the overall shape and proportion of your waistline and abdomen
- Enhance self-image and increase self-confidence
You’ll be able to see your Brazilian butt lift results immediately. However, it may take months for the final outcome to show.
Brazilian butt lift results typically last a long time, but they can change over time. Transferred fat is no different from the rest of the fat in your body; it’s equally affected by gravity, age, weight fluctuations, and other inevitable forces. The key to a successful surgery and recovery is following any instructions provided by your plastic surgeon before and after your procedure.
Brazilian Butt Lift Risks
Although buttock enhancement using fat transfer is generally safe, there are risks associated with all types of surgery. Potential risks of a Brazilian butt lift can range from bruising and swelling to anesthesia-related complications. The most severe complications include inflammation and infection resulting from poor blood flow.
Kelsey-Seybold plastic surgeons in the Houston area provide consultation and services for a variety of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, including silicone implants and Brazilian butt lifts.
