Outpatient Ophthalmology Procedures
Over the last decade, there’s been a major shift from eye surgeries being performed at hospitals to most of them being performed at ambulatory surgery centers, increasing convenience and reducing cost for patients. As an example, our Medicare cataract surgery patients save, on average, $148 at our Ambulatory Surgery Center compared to having the procedure done at a hospital.
At our Ambulatory Surgery Center – Berthelsen Main Campus, we offer several minimally invasive outpatient Ophthalmology procedures, including:
- Cataract surgery
- After-cataract laser surgery
- Complex cataract surgery
- Eye muscle revision
- Eyelid defect repair
- Eye lesion removal
- Iris removal
- Nasolacrimal duct probing
Our ambulatory surgery patients have seen great success and cost savings with sequential bilateral cataract surgery, during which surgery is performed on both eyes at one time. With this method, patients pay just one copayment, experience less downtime, and spend less time in surgery.
Additionally, our advanced surgical, anesthesia, and pain management techniques allow for faster recovery, at-home pain management, and fewer complications.
