Patient Resources
Getting treated for cancer may feel overwhelming as you navigate diagnostics, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.
You can rely on the medical expertise of Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center’s medical staff and our highly coordinated approach to cancer care. Our patients receive world-class diagnostic, treatment, and support services in a caring and personal environment.
There are extensive resources available to help make our patients’ lives easier during their course of treatment. Since each situation is unique, we offer a wide range of support services and resources to address each patient’s unique journey.
Here are just a few of the ways we can assist cancer patients and their families:
- Close collaboration with each patient's primary care and specialty physicians. At Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, your personal physician has access to specialists in virtually every medical field.
- Convenient locations. Our patients can expect top-quality medical care from the Kelsey-Seybold Cancer Center at the following locations:
- Berthelsen Main Campus
- North Houston Campus
- Springwoods Village Campus
- Fort Bend Campus
- Opening Soon! Bay Area Campus - Building C (opening for patient care in early 2025)
- Individualized support for each patient. Your treatment team consists of highly qualified medical specialists in Hematology and Medical Oncology, along with Oncology nurses, pharmacists, and social workers.
- The reassurance of our After-Hours Nurse Hotline. Cancer patients, particularly those going through chemotherapy, can have complicated side effects that need immediate, 24/7 assistance from trained medical personnel. By calling our After-Hours Nurse Hotline at 713-893-0102, patients can talk with a registered nurse after regular business hours.
- Coping skills. Our social workers can lend an ear and offer helpful suggestions for coping with illness-related concerns, family relationships, and related issues.
- Resources for finances, transportation, and disability benefits. Cancer can be a financial drain, but there are dozens of government programs and private foundations that can assist with things like medical co-pays, transportation vouchers for medical appointments, and daily living expenses. Social Security may also offer disability benefits in some cases.
- Breast Cancer Support Group. This group meets monthly at Kelsey-Seybold’s Berthelsen Main Campus. The Breast Cancer Support Group is designed to help women learn to live, understand, and cope with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Group meetings are under the guidance of healthcare professionals and provide an opportunity for women to share common experiences, problems, and solutions in a supportive atmosphere.
- Other support services and resources. In addition to the monthly Breast Cancer Support Group sponsored by Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, there are hundreds of other support groups throughout the area. We can help link you and your family to a wide variety of community resources.
- Education. Through one-on-one contact between our clinical staff and patients, we share the latest medical information regarding cancer care with our patients and their loved ones.
