Fraxel® Laser Treatment
Our dermatologists and plastic surgery specialists use advanced technologies, including the Fraxel® laser skin resurfacing treatment, to help restore skin to its youthful appearance.
Fraxel laser skin resurfacing is FDA approved and uses “fractional” (or low-level) laser technology to help smooth and refresh your skin with improved tone and texture. This in-office procedure helps reduce age spots, acne scars, sun damage, and “laugh lines."
The treatment can be used on almost any area of the body, including the face, neck, hands, and underarms. With knowledgeable Kelsey-Seybold dermatologists performing the treatment, it’s even safe for those delicate areas around the eyes.
With over a decade of treatments to date, the FDA-approved Fraxel technology gets real results, but everyone’s circumstances are different. Before treatment, our dermatologists will explain specific techniques, results, and any possible risks involved to help you decide if laser resurfacing is right for you.
What Fraxel Treats
- Wrinkles
- Liver spots or age spots
- Uneven skin tone or texture
- Sun-damaged skin
- Scars caused by acne, chickenpox, or injuries
Laser resurfacing does have limitations. Fraxel can’t eliminate all unwanted facial concerns, such as sagging necklines or jowls, but it can address several issues to help you look and feel younger. Kelsey-Seybold Dermatology and Fraxel specialists will explain specific techniques, results, and any possible risks to help you decide if laser resurfacing is right for you.
The Fraxel FDA-approved technology gets real results. Remember, each patient’s circumstances are different, so for specifics, it’s best to have a face-to-face talk with your Kelsey-Seybold specialist.

Before and After Your Treatment
The Fraxel® procedure is an in-office treatment performed in a private room at Kelsey-Seybold’s Tanglewood Clinic. The procedure usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. Patients should consider wearing loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.
A soothing, topical anesthetic will be applied to your skin prior to laser treatment. The physician’s assistant will apply a thin layer of gel over the desired area receiving treatment. Then, a hand-held component will glide across your skin, delivering short bursts of light-based energy into the top layer of the targeted skin.
For optimal results, contingent on skin condition and the level of correction required, additional treatments may be performed at intervals recommended by the physician.
After treatment, your skin will need some extra TLC to facilitate healing and maximize results.
Your Kelsey Pharmacy carries SkinCeuticals products, including the Post Procedure Kit for key components of healing, containing:
- Biocellulose Restorative masks (2)
- Hydra Balm
- Epidermal Repair Cream
- Physical UV Defense SPF 30
Our dermatologists also recommend daily use of SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Antioxidant Serum after treatment. The SkinCeuticals Phyto-Corrective Mask can provide cooling, soothing relief and help diminish redness during your recovery. Our patient coordinator will also help you choose the right, long-term medical-grade skincare regimen for your skin.
