Dr. Victor Simms is Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine and Associate Medical Director of Clinical Academic Affairs and Affiliations at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.
Dr. Simms graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in 1996. Following his doctorate, he completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor. He continued his education at the school with a fellowship in Primary Care Research. In addition, he earned a Master of Public Health degree from The University of Texas School of Public Health.

Dr. Simms has been recognized with a prestigious national certification for excellence in caring for diabetic patients, awarded by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Certification through NCQA’s national Diabetes Recognition Program comes after a comprehensive, individualized review process to verify a physician’s adherence to national standards of excellence in caring for patients diagnosed with diabetes.
- The Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) honored Victor Simms, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.P., Kelsey-Seybold Clinic Internal Medicine specialist, as the inaugural recipient of the “Young Physician of the Year” award on April 11, 2013. - Dr. Simms is also the recipient of the 2011 Patients' Choice Award on Vitals.com. Patients' Choice recognition reflects the difference a particular physician has made in the lives of their patients. The honor is bestowed to physicians who have received near perfect scores as voted by patients. According to Vitals.com, of the nation’s 720,000 active physicians, only 5 percent were accorded this honor by their patients in 2011.
Hobbies & Interests
Dr. Simms considers medicine a calling. When not caring for patients, he enjoys weight training, golf, reading, and mentoring disadvantaged youth. He is active in charitable organizations and serves on the board of directors for Hope Through Grace, a non-profit organization that screens uninsured patients for colorectal cancer. He is also active in the Wellness Ministry at Brookhollow Baptist Church.
