Dr. Richard Jenkins earned his undergraduate degree in 2007 at The University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in government with a minor in biology. He completed his medical degree in 2011 at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, where he received an award for Outstanding Student in Ophthalmology & Visual Science. He completed the Ophthalmology Research Fellow Program at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston in 2012 and his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore in 2013. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology in 2016 at Baylor College of Medicine.
Prior to joining Kelsey-Seybold in January 2021, Dr. Jenkins cared for patients at the Harrisburg Eye Clinic in Houston.

Dr. Jenkins enjoys gardening, duck hunting, traveling, and spending time with his wife and their 15-pound cat.

The most exotic and interesting place Dr. Jenkins has visited is the National Orchid Garden in Singapore, which houses over 3,000 different types of orchids.
