Dr. Haikal graduated from medical school at the University of Kabul in Afghanistan in 1980. He completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Dr. Haikal has been recognized with a prestigious national certification for excellence in caring for diabetic patients, awarded by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Certification through NCQA’s national Diabetes Recognition Program comes after a comprehensive, individualized review process to verify a physician’s adherence to national standards of excellence in caring for patients diagnosed with diabetes.
