Amna Ahmed, MD, completed her Bachelor of Science in biology in 2012 at the University of Houston, where she graduated summa cum laude. She went on to complete her medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 2016. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Houston Methodist Hospital in 2019 and her Infectious Disease fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in 2022.
Dr. Ahmed was inspired by her mother’s career as a physician in Pakistan, where she cared for the underserved communities, to pursue medicine as her career. Her mother taught her that service is the forefront of medicine, and this value has shaped the way she practices medicine.
Dr. Ahmed treats adult patients for a wide range of infectious disease conditions, including, but not limited to, HIV, sexually transmitted diseases, COVID-19, flu and other viruses, bone and joint infections, skin infections and non-healing wounds, urinary tract infections, and much more. Her clinical interests include treating HIV, pre-exposure prophylaxes for HIV (PrEP), and sexually transmitted diseases.
